Brunswick County is committed to citizen involvement. The County’s many boards, commissions, and authorities provide citizens with meaningful opportunities for direct involvement in local government. The Board of Supervisors appoints citizens to serve on most of the local and regional boards, commissions, and authorities based on an individual’s expertise, interests, and willingness to serve. If you have an interest in molding decisions for our community and contributing to the quality of life in Brunswick County, we encourage you to explore service on a board, commission or authority.

The following committees/boards have current vacancies:
  • Brunswick County Board of Zoning Appeals - One vacancy in the Powellton & one vacancy in the Red Oak Election District
  • Brunswick County Industrial Development Authority - One vacancy in the Powellton Election District
  • Brunswick County Litter Control Council - One vacancy in the Powellton Election District, one vacancy in the Red Oak District, and one vacancy as the Litter Control Council Coordinator
  • Lake County Area Agency on Aging Board of Directors - One at-large vacancy (not district specific)
  • Local Board of Public Welfare - One vacancy in the Meherrin Election District 
  • Tourism Advisory Committee - One vacancy in the Red Oak Election District
