Water Sports
Brunswick County offers many opportunities for the water enthusiast. The county offers numerous bodies of water for recreational boating, skiing, fishing, and more.
Lake Gaston in the southern portion of the county offers some of the best locations for permanent or vacation house in southside Virginia. Residents and visitors alike, enjoy the tranquil waters, local restaurants and shops.

Great Creek Reservoir and County Pond are two more water spots located in the center of Brunswick County. These spots include quiet waters for boating and fishing.
Rawlings Lake was opened in 1994 and is available for scuba diving and other related sports. Instructional diving and camping is available.

Brunswick County also has two navigable rivers, Meherrin and Nottoway. Both offer visitors a variety of water activities along their wooded banks.
The state maintains three public boat landings in the County. The rivers and lakes offer a variety of fish, included rock, largemouth, smallmouth, and striped bass, bluegill, perch, channel catfish, blue catfish, spot, walleye, chain pickerel, and many more.

Hunting
Brunswick County offers some of the best hunting in the State. Dove, quail, duck, rabbit, squirrel, deer, fox, and racoon are all abundant within the County, and there is a great deal of privately-held timberland open to public hunting by permit.

Other Recreational Places and Events
Other recreational facilities include seven tennis courts, and three ballfields. Lighted athletic fields are available for softball, baseball, and football. There are also private clubs in the County offering swimming, tennis, and golf. There are community centers in the towns and most communities have facilities for dances, meetings, and exhibits. Brunswick County offers the residents and visitors alike the opportunity to participate and celebrate in the many parades, stew cookings, and social events that occur year round in Brunswick County.
