Message from Brunswick County Board of Supervisors

“The County of Brunswick is a progressive community with a rich history that is committed to providing courteous, effective and professional service while assuring public welfare and safety, promoting economic development, excellence in education, recreational opportunities and a well-balance community, which will enhance the quality of life for all citizens of Brunswick County.”

This is the vision of Brunswick County established by the Brunswick County Board of Supervisors.   It is also the vision of the citizens of this community, as we have heard through citizen involvement, such as the 2004 Citizen Surveys, public meetings and a myriad of other citizen participation outlets.

Brunswick County is a progressive community rich in history and tradition.  County citizens are stakeholders in our progress and serve as trustees for those values which are vital to a community’s success and survival: Fairness, honesty, diversity and harmony, appreciation of history and cultural steadfastness in long range commitments, the promotion of strong and sound education and the creation of a viable workforce.   Citizens and businesses together can make Brunswick County a place that promises beautiful and peaceful surroundings for a robust quality of life in a rural setting.

The Board’s role is to meet the needs of the citizens, ensure public safety, enhance recreational and cultural activities, support the school system, and strengthen our commercial base to help ensure the future viability of the County.   We are developing well-coordinated strategies to ensure the County responds to trends and produces a wealth of employment choices, educational opportunities and an overall pleasant “way of life” for its residents.

We are pleased to host this website as a service to the citizens of Brunswick County and hope that it provides a better understanding of how your local government is working for you.  We hope you find it as a useful resource of information about our community and upcoming activities and issues affecting Brunswick County.   We also invite you to attend our Board of Supervisors meetings which are held on the third Wednesday of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the County Government Building Auditorium.

In carrying out this mission together, the life we envision for our community is rich and full of promise.  We envision citizens proud of their community and the commitment and accomplishment of their government.   We envision a “Community Moving Forward”.
